Brent and Denise met a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Well, close enough, anyway. They met in a movie theatre in autumn, 1996 - the United Artists Cooper Five Theatre in Aurora, CO. Brent was an assistant manager in his last semester of college at the University of Colorado at Denver; Denise was a box office attendant fresh out of high school. He was The Boss O’ Her. For a while.
They quickly became the best of friends, and after some, erm, *interesting* years in between, they married in Colorado on 16 June 2001, and honeymooned in Washington, D.C. just two months before 9/11.
They now live in the house Brent grew up in, with their son, Steven Ralph Daniel Lenz (born 2006), and their canine companion, Chewbacca Worf Binks-Bashir Lenz (born 2002). Denise gives everyone middle names. Multiple middle names. It’s a compulsion. They went through many years of IVF and two losses before having their son, and he was well worth every moment of it.
Brent is a quality assurance engineer for OnTargetJobs (an online employment service) and a developing screenwriter. He thrives on storytelling, intellectual stimulation, X-Box Live, good music, history, politics, and finding patterns and systems within the mundane. He is brilliant but won’t admit it.
Denise is a full-time student and mum, having just finished her film degree (writing/directing) and working toward completing her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science. She obsesses over names and essays, plays with Steven, writes incessantly, loves to learn languages, intellectualizes, thinks entirely too much, and will admit to brilliance even if she doesn’t possess any.
Brent and Denise first bonded over their mutual love of Star Wars, Star Trek, science fiction, and filmmaking/storytelling in general, and have since realized that they are absolute soul mates. Nobody loves a nerd like a fellow nerd. They are now teaching their son to follow in their nerdly ways. His first step in the right direction: He is named after one of Brent and Denise’s heroes, Steven Spielberg. Qa’plah!
So, there is the overview of Who We Are. To learn more, please frequent our respective blogs, where surely there will be more personality spew than you will possibly know what to do with.
Ahhhh, this modern technology. How ever did we make it through our youths without it?
Love and cheers,
The Lenzes
(Brent, Denise, Steven, Chewie, & Kira)
PERSONAL NOTE: Brent launched LenzView.com in 1999. It used to be his online bachelor pad, where he could blather on endlessly and it could be all about him. Now it, like seemingly everything else, has become community property. He is a generous soul and a really great sport for not complaining about it. In fact, he seems to enjoy the team effort. For that, and for so much else, I am grateful to have such an amazing spouse. Steven and I truly are the luckiest people on the Earth, and we say so every day - to ourselves, if not aloud.
